Online Services
I offer online counseling services to current clients as a supplement for in-office sessions.  This is not intended to be a replacement for in-office sessions, but allows clients the convenience of being able to schedule sessions while traveling for work, on vacation, at home sick, etc.  I do not provide online services for out of state clients or for new clients who have never been seen in-office.  Rates online are the same as in-office.  I use VSEE for secure online sessions.  It is free to use. 

Rates

Family Matters has always made every attempt to keep fees as low as possible by keeping overhead costs to a minimum.  I ask clients to help me continue to do this by following my payment guidelines.  Fees are due and payable at the time of each session. I accept cash, check, Venmo, Apple Pay, and major credit/debit cards. There is a fee for credit/debit card payments of $3 per transaction.

(includes 4 counseling sessions as required by the State of Tennessee for marriage license discount, does not include required PREPARE inventory administration and scoring, which is an additional $35 online at the time of the inventory)

Your appointment time is a commitment and has been reserved for you. 24 hours notice is required for cancellation, except in the case of an emergency or you will be charged a missed session fee.  I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and my sincere hope is that clients understand the importance of keeping their appointments.

Insurance
One reason we are able to keep our fees low is by using our time to work with clients, not insurance companies.  You may find that our fee is lower than your coinsurance or deductible.  In fact, research has shown that the average counseling relationship lasts 7 sessions!  With our rates, you may not even reach your deductible!  I hear so many people making mental health choices based on who their insurance will pay rather than who they feel comfortable with.  Make sure to research what your financial responsibility really is before making a final decision.

If you have insurance which provides coverage for this treatment, we will be happy to assist you in completing your claim forms if you provide us with the appropriate form. You are responsible for mailing it to the insurance company and tracking your reimbursement. We do not accept assignment of benefits, nor do we participate in managed care insurance plans (HMOs and PPOs). We will gladly discuss your proposed treatment with your insurance company if they call us and you provide us with a release of information form directing us to do so. We do not call to request authorizations. You are responsible for the full fee regardless of your insurance company’s reimbursement policies.

**Please note**
If you are seeking marriage counseling, insurance companies typically do not pay for this (even if you find someone on your panel).  Most insurance companies require a diagnosis of a mental disorder by one or both participants before marriage counseling will be covered.  Regardless of where you go for your marriage counseling, you will most likely be required to pay out of pocket or your therapist will need to diagnose you with a mental disorder, which will stay with you when you go to seek future medical or mental health treatment, possibly even future employment.  The average cost of services for LMFT's (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists) is $125 per session and as high as $200 per session.  Family Matters makes every effort to keep overhead costs to a minimum, allowing us to charge fees below the average.

Your regular fee will be charged for any additional professional services rendered by your provider at your request, such as phone contacts over five minutes, preparation of special forms, insurance reports, court time, consults with other professionals, etc.  Please see the Common Questions section of the website for further information on insurance.
