Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a therapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate or I am unable to reach them, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Phone calls

I do not conduct therapy sessions via phone call. If you prefer a phone contact for scheduling or brief questions regarding services provided, please utilize the contact form on the website or send an email to [email protected]. Please do not utilize my voicemail for private or confidential information as it is not encrypted or guaranteed protected. Doing so is at your own privacy risk.

Text Messages

Once you schedule an appointment and sign appropriate informed consent, you will have access to texting me directly regarding scheduling, but please note, it is not encrypted on either end (sending or receiving) to send a direct SMS message. If you choose to communicate via text message (that is your choice), refrain from sending sensitive, confidential information and only use texting for scheduling or non-private health information (ex. reschedule, running late, verifying appointments, etc.) Text messages are generally responded to on the same day regarding scheduling. If you want to send private information, please utilize my encrypted email address directly: [email protected].
